In a culture with escalating hatred toward Christ, can we survive as Christians? When we experience extreme pressure from our life circumstances, is it possible to remain faithful? Is there a way to move beyond a short-lived, spiritual “camp-high” and actually thrive in our day-to-day context? The message of 1 Peter gives us a hopeful and emphatic “YES!” Join us for Summer 2018 as we embrace the truths that Peter relayed to persecuted followers of Jesus Christ in a hostile culture. Featuring panel discussions with believers from various backgrounds, we will learn how to GROW in our joy and zeal for Christ which propels us to GO and proclaim His excellencies to the people God has placed in our lives.
After this I looked, and behold, a great multitude that no one could number, from every nation, from all tribes and peoples and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, with palm branches in their hands, 10 and crying out with a loud voice, “Salvation belongs to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb!” ~ Revelation 7:9-10
If you are a Christian, this is a glimpse of your eternal family - people from all tribes and peoples and languages. This is what God has in mind for eternity. He is a global God who will have a global family connected with Him forever. However, this is not the reality of our world right now. As we eagerly await Christ's 2nd coming, there are billions of people on the earth who have never heard of his 1st coming. Who are these people that will one day be represented in eternity as worshipers of Jesus that, right now, have no idea who Christ is? Who are the people that will introduce them to Jesus?
In this year's activity, we will put our attention on the people groups in the world who have the least access to the good news of Jesus Christ. Sometimes referred to as the THUMB people, this includes Tribal people, Hindus, Unreligious (mostly Chinese), Muslims and Buddhists. We will explore these different groups and look for some practical ways that we can start connecting with people that will be a part of our eternal family.
